Introduction 

The Personal Effectiveness course focuses on developing key skills and behaviors required for professional success. By reading this students will explore concepts of personal effectiveness, self-reflection, and professional development. The course critically evaluates how people learn for career growth and highlights the process of enhancing personal effectiveness. Students can work to highlight their skills, compare them with those of a successful business leader, and create an individual development plan. The course provides students with practical tools for improving their performance, productivity, and overall career effectiveness, fostering growth in both personal and professional contexts.

TASK 1 

1) Using a model of reflective practice, reflect on how you attempt any task at work or university to identify your own skill set. Identify both strengths and weaknesses.  

2) Analyse the skills you identified with reference to your choice of career or job.  

TASK 2 

1) Using the CEO of the Genome Project or Covey’s model, critically analyse the skills of a  business leader of your choice.  

2) Compare the skills of the business leader with your own. Identify areas of development that  will help you improve your personal effectiveness. 

TASK 3 

Based on your response to Task 1 and Task 2, choose a maximum of two areas of  development and create a short-term plan to improve these areas. As part of your plan,  analyse one method for enhancing your personal effectiveness for each area of  development.
