Part 1: Individual Report 2000 Words

This section is in the form of a 2,000-word (maximum) individual report constituting 70% of the total marks:

The purpose of the assignment is for you to interpret and explain information from academic literature and to assess its usefulness in cross cultural management in an organisational context as well as to develop your skills in writing effective and concise management reports. You need to apply the theoretical concepts and frameworks gained from lectures and tutorials, as well as your wider reading on cross-cultural management to structure your analysis in the report.

Assessment Requirement:

A multinational corporation (MNC) you are employed by is considering expanding its operations into a new country which is culturally distinct from its home base. The organization is wary of the impacts of the differences in culture between these two countries on the success of this expansion strategy.

Your task is to produce a report for your CEO using the key concepts and frameworks covered in the module to aid your organisation in navigating this expansion strategy cross-culturally.

You can select any real-world multinational corporation (MNC), but you should be guided by what is feasible within the time and resources available. The organization must be named.

The chosen company must be a real-world multinational corporation (MNC) which operates in more than one country. You need to clarify its home country and the country it is considering entering or expanding its current operations into (host country) outside of its home geographical region, which is culturally distinct from its home base. Both the home and host countries need to be named and their cultural environments analysed in your assignment.

Part 2: Reflective Account – 500 words

A good reflective account will link to the content of Part 1 of this assessment in a considered and concise way and incorporate your chosen cross-cultural framework and how this would be applied in your professional life, post MSc.
