Your coursework when submitted should not include your name – we use a system of anonymous marking to reduce the risk of any unconscious bias. The authentic and essential requirements for this piece of assessed work are;

• You must use the research proposal template (on Moodle) which provides a clear structure for the research proposal

• It must be word-processed in 12-point Arial font 

• Spacing should be set to 1.5

• It must be black text on a white background 

• Pages must be appropriately numbered

• Margins must be set to Normal (all four sides set to 2.54 cm)

• Any tables/figures/diagrams should be legible, correctly captioned and clearly identified

• Title page is not required 

• Do not mention your name anywhere as marking will be anonymous 

• Contents page is not needed 

• An executive summary is not needed 

• Appendices are not permitted

• A conclusion is not needed 

Writing guidance

• Please write in the third person

• Avoid bias to any one source and use different sources to evidence engagement and enhance criticality

• Ensure adequate and consistent citation and a complete reference list (follow the Brookes Harvard style)

• Please avoid high similarity and use the draft check submission box before submitting – any work that has been plagiarised will not be considered when assessing your work

Assignment Criteria

Introduction: Clear introduction to the proposed dissertation topic or client project. The parameters (scope) of the proposed topic or project are discussed and are feasible. The importance of the study is clearly and convincingly discussed; i.e. rationale – academic and practical value if it is a dissertation topic or the importance of solving the client’s problem. References must be provided to support your introduction.

Research Aim and Objectives: Provide one clear, specific and concise aim for the proposed project. Provide 3-5 clearly interlinked, logical and feasible objectives, which are aligned with the aim.

Critically review the relevant literature, primarily based on peer-reviewed journal articles and aided by credible industry sources. Where relevant, apply a suitable theoretical framework. Ensure a good balance of up-to-date and seminal sources. Ensure alignment with the aim. A clear statement of gap or problem. Use subheadings to structure your review.
