Unit 13: Unit Learning Outcomes

The purpose of this assignment is to:  

LO3: Utilise website technologies, tools and techniques with good design principles to create a multipage website. 
LO4: Create and use a test plan to review the performance and design of a  multipage website.

Transferable skills and competencies developed 

On successful completion of the unit, students will be able to explain the server technologies and management services associated with the hosting and management of secure websites, categorise website technologies, tools and software used to develop websites, utilise website technologies, tools and techniques with good design principles to create a multipage website and create and use a Test Plan to review the performance and design of a multipage website.

Unit 13: Scenario

Established in 2016, “EssentiaBags” Bag Collection is a premium brand that  designs and sells minimalist, functional bags for everyday use. Their philosophy centers around the idea of “essentials only”—creating sleek, high-quality backpacks, totes, and crossbody bags that combine timeless design with practical organization.

Operating from a boutique studio in a creative district, EssentiaBags has built a loyal local customer base through word-of-mouth and curated pop-up events. Their bags appeal to professionals,  students,  and  travelers  who  prefer  simplicity  and  sustainability  over  flashy fashion trends. With growing  interest and  a strong product  line,  the brand is  ready  to expand its reach  by launching an official e-commerce website. They want a website that aligns with their brand values: minimalism, elegance, and usability.

They have partnered with a digital development agency, PixelTrail Studios, and you, as  the  lead  designer  on  the  project,  have  been  assigned  to  plan,  design,  and  develop  the website.  Your  responsibility  is  to  create  an  engaging  user  experience  and  supports  its  e-commerce goals.

Assignment activity and guidance

The recommendation for designing and developing the website:  

• You must need to create a design document with appropriate principles and standard guidelines to produce a branded, multipage website before developing the website.  
   
• The Website should have at least 7 pages, each of those pages should use a similar style so that the pages look like they belong to the same website. And every page must have a meaningful title and relevant content. You must use at least one external style sheet.
• You should have consistent navigation for all pages and organize all the pages in a good structure. Your website should be easy to use, easy to read; background colour, front end colour, table, form, images, etc. should be properly managed and organized
• You should create a contact us page and place the Google map on the contact page.  
• You  should have  a  customer  inquiry  form  on  your  website  (only  front-end,  you don’t have to write any server-side code to store the data) which must have text box, label, combo box, radio button, check box, command button, list box, etc.  
• You should use some multi-media content e.g. audio, video, flash, etc.  

NOTE: if you copy any images, sound, video from Google make sure the copyright issue of using these materials so you have to reference the origin of that resource in a comment in your HTML or CSS file

Your Task is to develop a report that address the following:   

Task 1:

Utilise website technologies, tools and techniques with good design principles  

(a) Create a design document for a branded, multipage website supported with medium fidelity wireframes and a full set of clients of user requirements.  

• Purpose of the website  
• Targeted audience 
• A full set of client requirements  
• User requirements  
• Sitemap /Navigation map which shows all key pages and their relationship  
• Wireframes which show a view of the content on the key pages  
• Visual style specifications: typefaces, colours, backgrounds, images       

(b) Build the website based on your design document using current standards, incorporating features  in  Task  1  a,  produce  a  branded  multipage  website  for  ““EssentiaBags”  Bag Collection” with realistic content on the key pages.   

When implementing the design, your website must:  

• Be responsive  
• Background  colour,  front  end  colour,  table,  form,  images,  etc.  should  be  properly managed and organized.  
• Use CSS for a consistent style of all pages for navigation and classes 
• Use headings, lists, and buttons
