Assessment Scenario

According to the International Institute for Management Development (IIMD) digital transformation in organisation involves integrating new technologies like artificial intelligence and cloud computing to drive growth, streamline operations and increase competitive edge. Shao (2025) highlights that digital transformation (DT) is crucial for businesses because it boosts efficiency, improves customer experiences, enhances competitiveness, growth and innovation. 

The above statements reflect the importance of digital transformation in modern businesses. Hence for this assignment, you will be acting as the new “Digital Transformation Manager” of an international organisation – (Select ONE from the list below). You will be responsible for coordinating and providing technology expertise to your organisation.

The company Chief Information officer (CIO) has tasked you to produce a new “Digital Transformation Report” designed to evaluate and recommend changes that the organisation must implement by means to maintain a competitive edge and create business value.  

This is your opportunity to demonstrate your capability and give your employer the confidence to let you run your own project in the future.

Critically review and propose an appropriate digital transformation strategical framework  that your organisation should implement in order to respond to current digital change.

Important: Use 1 “One” Digital Transformation Framework (McKinsey 4Ds, BCG 3 Stages, Gartner's 6 Steps or Cognizant’s 4 Pillars) to tackle this section. Furthermore, you must include some digital transformation objectives that can support key departments such as operations, ICT, and marketing to achieve a Pass grade. You are encouraged to use examples to reinforce your arguments for Merit. For Distinction and High Distinctions, you should evidence the use of extensive personal research which has been thoroughly critically evaluated.
