Instructions on Assessment: 

This strand will be assessed by one summative assessment: an academic report on employment, career and entrepreneurial opportunities within your specialism, including a personal development plan (PDP) of 1,500 words. 

The Report Should Include Three Parts (submitted as one report): 

  • Part A - a critical evaluation of employment, entrepreneurial opportunities within your specialism informed by a range of relevant literature, both academic and professional sources (750 words)
  • Part B - Personal Development Plan, including a self-analysis that identifies your strengths and weaknesses about your chosen field of work/career path and three action points for personal development to enhance your readiness for your career goals.
  • Part C - Portfolio of completed tasks (appendices A-C).
  • Name your submission according to the name convention, <your seminar tutor initial>_<your programme>_<your id>.docx, eg NT_AI_w12345678.docx is the filename for the student enrolled in MSc International Project Management attending Ning Tse's class. 
  • The assignment should start with a Cover page (to be available on Bb)
  • Your report should be written to a professional standard using MS Word and show appropriate and consistent use of type, fonts and line spacing (for this assignment, use Arial 12 and single spacing) and page layouts. Give each page a footer that includes your student ID, the module code, and a page number. It will be assessed in terms of style, meaning, and the accuracy of spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax.
  • Correct and thorough referencing of your sources of information is required. You should follow Harvard Referencing Style throughout your assignment, include in-text citations in the body of the report and provide a full reference list at the end. 'Cite them Right' advises that direct quotations should be indicated by quotation marks or indentation and referenced. Failure to acknowledge your sources or to indicate when you are quoting constitutes plagiarism. You are encouraged to work with each other to discuss the challenges encountered, but you must not work with each other.

The work will be marked out of 100 in line with the University's marking grades and according to the following assessment criteria:

  • Professional Presentation: You must present all three components (Part A, Part B and Part C) as one document to the academic standard commensurate with Level 7.
