This chapter provides a background of the research topic. The topic under study is investigating the ethical consideration of Artificial Intelligence implementation in nursing practice. The section provides an overview of themes related to the research; and the definition of terms used in the proposal to elaborate the understanding of the topic. Artificial intelligence can be defined as intelligence exhibited by machines that is comparable to human intelligence (Rony et al., 2024). One of the most important aspects of nursing practice is the code of ethics which guides the nursing professionals’ responsibilities towards the patients and their families as well as the society at large (Seibert et al., 2021).
A search strategy can be defined as a plan for finding all relevant research studies on a specific topic. The choice of appropriate keywords or search terms determines the quality of results generated after each search. For a good and effective search strategy, it is necessary that multiple databases are searched and for each, a different search strategy is formulated (Bramer et al., 2018). For this literature review, PubMed and Google Scholar are two scholarly databases that are considered.
