This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of an appropriate work context and apply their knowledge and skills to a workplace issue or problem that they have identified.
The project comprises several subtasks, which will be submitted as a single submission.
Task 1 – Project Proposal
For each client-based project, a project proposal should be completed and submitted for approval; it will be reviewed for safety and then approved. A proposal form template will be made available on Teams. (Draft Deadline – 1/05/2026)
Task 2 – Report
A detailed report must be prepared and submitted. The report needs to demonstrate the planning, management and execution of the project. (Refer to the given suggested documentation for further reference on structure. For group projects, the “Critical Reflection” section of this report will reflect individual group members’ contributions to the project.
Task 3 – Product
Alongside the report, the final product(s) must be submitted. The submission should consist of all working files of the project. Submit to the Assignment point on Moodle. Negotiated projects should be in ZIP folders.
Note that for project management and for creating diagrams, any software can be used, or the same software taught during the sessions can be utilised.

Tutors will provide an induction to the module where the context, content, access arrangements and assessment will be explained through a range of activities which may include group discussions, workshops, lectures, presentations, simulated / work-based placements, and relevant experience in work or using real working environments. This module is to develop the students’ understanding of work in their vocational area. Students will normally source their own project(s), analysing the scope and practicality of the project(s). Students are required to research, plan and deliver project outcomes. It is expected that students will complete the cycle by critically reflecting on the project. The portfolio will be made up of a collection of evidence from the project and include an evaluation. Individual tutorials will be scheduled with students to monitor progress.
