As part of the formal assessment for the module Introduction to Numeracy, Data and IT, you are required to submit the assessment that is described in this assessment brief.
After completing the module, you should be able to:
LO1: Use basic numerical operations with whole numbers, integers, fractions, and decimals.
LO2: Calculate ratios and proportions, percentages, averages.
LO3: Construct and use appropriate graphical techniques to present simple data.
LO4: Construct and use a spreadsheet application to record numerical data and use simple formula functions.
All learning outcomes must be met to pass the module.
Your assignment should include: a title page containing your student number, the module name, the submission deadline and the exact word count of your submitted document; the appendices if relevant; and a reference list in (see referencing section for more information). You should address all the elements of the assignment task listed below. Please note that tutors will use the assessment criteria set out below in assessing your work.
You must not include your name in your submission because Arden University operates anonymous marking, which means that markers should not be aware of the identity of the student. However, please do not forget to include your STU number.

c) There are multiple railcard options available to rail customers. The Family and Friends Railcard offers 1/3 off adult tickets and 60% off child tickets. If a family of two adults and one child were to use this railcard to travel to Manchester.
i) How much would the two adult tickets cost together with the railcard discount?
ii) How much would the child ticket cost with the railcard discount?
iii) What would the total cost of the journey be for this family using the railcard.
iv) How much has the family saved on this journey by using their railcard. [7 marks]
d) A group of 4 adults want to go on a trip. They can avail of the group discount promotion as seen in the table above. They decide to travel to either Manchester or Leeds. Which destination should they choose to get the cheapest deal? [5 marks]
e) Due to an increase in costs for the railway company, the current price for a ticket to Birmingham is 5% more than it was last year. What was the price of a return adult ticket to Birmingham last year before the increase? (Round your answer to two decimal places) [4 marks]
f) Rail National have made the decision to continue to increase their ticket prices by 5% each year for the next three years. What will the cost of a return adult ticket to Edinburgh cost in 3 years. (Round your answer to 2 decimal places) [5 marks]
