This Assignment assesses the following module Learning Outcomes (from Definitive Module Document): KU1 - Demonstrate in-depth understanding of product development cycles in a business context in terms of the product specifications, standards, life cycle assessment, sustainability, environmental impact and/or functions of the manufacturing industry (M1). IPT2 - Be able to apply tools and techniques during product development (M3). IPT3 - Be able to evaluate alternative product strategies individually and/or in a group (M16). Assignment Tasks:Robotic, drone, smart and intelligent engineering products are revolutionising healthcare, transportation, defense, electronics and space sectors by enhancing efficiency, safety and innovation. In medicine, surgical robots, artificial intelligent (AI) diagnostics and delivery drones enable precise operations, rapid treatment and swift distribution of vital supplies to remote areas. Transportation benefits from autonomous vehicles, predictive maintenance and drone-based logistics, improving mobility, reducing accidents and streamlining delivery systems. In military/defense, intelligent robots and drones perform surveillance, reconnaissance, and bomb disposal, while autonomous systems strengthen decision-making and national security. Electronics industries use smart automation and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to achieve high- precision manufacturing, faster production and cost-effective operations. For aerial and space missions, autonomous robots and AI-powered drones support satellite deployment, planetary exploration and real- time data analysis in harsh environments. Together, these technologies expand human capability, solve critical challenges and drive progress across industries, shaping a more advanced, connected and sustainable future. Congratulations on your employment in one of the British Manufacturing Companies shortly after your postgraduate study at SPECS, UH. You have been deployed to a department that designs and develops (manufactures) your chosen/selected Engineering Product 1, 2, 3, …. or 5 under assigned/allocated Group A, B, …, or E (Table 1) to improve it or its part(s) so that it can be launched next year December 2026.
