RATIONALE

This module provides a critical appreciation of a wide range of financial issues as they impact on the modern business leaders. It evaluates the nature of the corporation and its governance from a financial perspective. It also concentrates on the analysis of financial statements, financial tools and techniques before progressing to a more strategic perspective. In the end, it encourages students to appreciate the financial and non-financial implications of managements’ decision-making process. 

AIMS

To enable students to develop a critical appreciation of accounting and accountability issues and how these concepts might be applied in business contexts. To enable students to appreciate the importance of corporate governance, ethics and regulation in business management. To enable students to use tools and techniques for decision-making purposes. To develop students’ ability to critically evaluate investment decisions and financial performance of companies.
