Unit of Assessment

To produce a protocol, including your rational/justification for the protocol, to test a hypothesis  based on the questions below;  
− You can work alone or in groups of 2 and work on either the question below or one of your own but need to run it by me first; 
− Times throughout the module are set aside for you seek advice; 
− You will be assessed on your design, scientific justification of the protocol;

The following are the breakdown of the marks:  
1. Introduction/Background (20%) 
2. Hypothesis (10%) 
3. Research Design and Methods (50%) 
a. Study Population & recruitment, logistics (10%) 
b. Data collection: list of variables to be collected, justification, and methods of collection (15%) 
c. Statistical methods and analyses to be performed (10%) 
d. Power of the study and justification of sample size (10%) 
e. Ethical considerations, setting, consent (5%) 
4. Style (20%) 
a. Use of References (5%) 
b. Use of Figures/Tables (5%) 
c. Scientific Writing (5%) 
d. General Presentation (5%)

This assessment will contribute to 100% of the overall marks.
