You are required to ensure you have carried out the following before submitting your assessment:
When learners cannot complete an assessment because of exceptional circumstances they will be provided an extension. If a learner needs an extension, they must apply to their lecturer in writing by email at least 3 days prior to the assessment submission due date. If the learner fails to submit by this time, they will fail the assessment.
Learners are encouraged to submit by the assessment due date. However, learners who are regularly late submitting their assessments will be offered support. Formative assessments should support learners to be able to submit on time.
Late assessments will incur a penalty of 5% per day (unless an extension is granted before the due date). Any assessment received later than 5 working days after the due date will be marked to a maximum of 50% with no re-submission or re-submit allowed.
There are no resubmissions in this course.
All courses have a 50% pass grade and all assessments within a course must be the learner’s best attempt and passed with a 50% grade to achieve a successful outcome for that course.
Appeals will be processed according to NZSEG A10 Appeals Policy.
The use of Canvas LMS allows the use of the authenticity checking Turnitin software to be used as part of the submission process for written assessments where plagiarism may be a concern.
Current student Policies allow for the use of plagiarism software or other means to confirm an assessment is a learner’s own work. Assessments may be retained on a plagiarism detection database for ongoing comparison with other assessments submitted.
NZSE have an AI policy [Academic Policy A20 – Generative AI Policy] in place that encourages the use of AI tools by learners to supplement their studies but prohibits its use for assessments (unless otherwise directed) to discourage plagiarism and to maintain academic integrity.
If an assessor has doubts over the authenticity of assessment answers, the learner may be requested to demonstrate understanding in front of the assessor.

Throughout this programme, lecturers will emphasise the importance of professionalism in the health sector. Learners are expected to demonstrate professionalism within the class settings and will be assessed on their abilities to apply such professionalism in their written work presented as part of their summative assessments.
