Identify and discuss two challenges businesses face in creating inclusive workplaces in the UK under the Equality Act 2010. What solutions can managers use to address those challenges?

You should plan, research, write and submit a 1200 word (+/- 10%) academic essay discussing the topic provided above. All your ideas should be supported with concrete evidence from the research.

Your Academic Essay submission (docx.) should include the following in one file:

  • A cover page with your name, student number, university and module, and a declaration that the work is your own.
  • A 1200-word Academic Essay strictly addressing all the aspects of the prompt in the topic.
  • A full and accurate reference list called References, containing all the sources used in alphabetical order, i.e. from A to Z.
  • In-text citations, both narrative and parenthetical, in Harvard Style, supporting all your ideas, sources and use of terminology and providing evidence of research/reading you have done in preparation of your essay.

Your Academic Essay should follow the following rules and restrictions:

  • The sources should be in the English language.
  • The sources should be mostly recent, i.e. in the last five years.
  • The sources should be varied, valid, reliable and contain:

a)academic journal articles;
b)academic books and book chapters;
c)reputable mass media (when you can identify the author(s) and year of publication);
d)official company websites and reports;
e)official government-related websites and reports.

  • The sources should not include: random websites, Wikipedia, social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), small and niche mass media with anonymous posts.
  • The essay should be a well-recearched evidence-based academic essay, not an IELTS-style opinion essay.
  • The essay should contain subheadings only for the following parts: Introduction, Conclusion and no more than three sections for the ‘main body’.
  • The essay should NOT use bullet points, numbered lists and diagrams, fonts in colour, bold or italics, underlined text and emoticons.

  • The font should be either Times New Roman or Arial, 12 pt in size.
  • References and Cover Page with declarations are NOT included in the word count.

You must avoid plagiarism, i.e. academic misconduct that can lead to expulsion. Copying from any other source (including other students, staff hand-outs, websites or digital material, or published articles/texts) without appropriate referencing is plagiarism. Failure to identify your sources properly may be deemed as plagiarism, whether there is intention to deceive or not. As such, do not be tempted to present other people’s work as your own.

You must not submit an AI-generated text, partially or wholly. Any other use of AI (such as grammar- and spell-checkers) must be carefully referenced and declared on the cover page.

This assignment accounts for 40% of your final EAP2 grade.
