Case Study Assignment Briefs & Guidelines for Students

This Trinity College Dublin case study is set for Junior Sophister nursing and midwifery students in Semester 1 2026. In just 500 words, students describe one patient or client’s diet, focus on a single nutritional issue such as malnutrition, ageing or pregnancy within a recognised nutritional assessment, and explain how the nurse or midwife can improve that person’s nutritional status.

As part of the formal assessment for the module Exploring the Social World, you are required to submit the assessment that is described in this assessment brief.

You will be given two definitions of health. You are expected to explain these definitions in relation to the different dimensions of health (physical, mental, social, intellectual, emotional or environmental).

For this assessment, you will be provided with a data set and a topic. You will use the data set to conduct epidemiological analyses and interpret the data.  You will conduct research on the disease/illness provided, respond to the case study questions and prompts provided in the outline, and include the descriptive analysis results and epidemiological data analysis in your case study report.
