Unit learning outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of historical, current and future developments in business and management models and how the drivers of change impact a dynamic business environment.    
  2. Application of your personal and professional skills and demonstrate your ability of self-management and learning and be able to use these skills for exploring dynamic environments, and/or unique situations in which businesses are active.

Assessment Task

You are required to choose a company and analyse its practices in two different business eras (decades) from the list provided in the Assessment and Feedback section of the unit and produce a business report along with a reflection on the research carried out in preparation for the task.

The report needs to be presented in two parts. 

  • The first part is a comparative business analysis demonstrating your knowledge and understanding through identifying how Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental, Political, Legal and Ethical factors (STEEPLE) contributed to the change in practices between the two eras. (Word count: 2000 words)
  • The second part is a reflective discourse explaining how you planned the research activities and how skills and knowledge, developed through your lived experiences, contributed to the completion of the report. Support your reflection with a one side A4 page CV. (Word count: 1600 words)
  • You must also submit the completed Process Log demonstrating your assignment development through the course of the unit. This will be an appendix item and will not be included in your word count. However, it will carry marks as described in the marking criteria at the end of this brief. A template will be provided in the Assessment and Feedback section.
