BMB5001M Assignment Description

Develop a reflective report on ‘the skills requirements of a manager today’, with reference to your own self-audit and personal development plan.

Your report should both reflect and build on the skills audit (discussed during lectures and seminars). Therefore, the appendices of the report should include:

1.A completed self-audit.

2.A Personal Development Plan (PDP) which includes one example of developing a specific management or leadership skill.

It is essential that you demonstrate your theoretical knowledge of Management and / or Leadership through your critical evaluation of the skills required, alongside demonstrating your consideration of practical and real-world skills.

You must:

-Provide an example of a management or leadership skill that you are developing. From your PDP - select one skill that you identify as your priority skill for growth; demonstrate how and why you plan to improve in this area.
-Explain the importance of this skill to management and/ or leadership. It is recommended that you focus on a specific industry or sector relevant to your experience and / or ambitions.

The application of at least one reflective theory or framework is required. Support your reflection throughout with evidence and academic insight.

This assignment will be discussed in further depth during both lectures and seminars, together with the opportunity for question-and-answer sessions (Q&A).
