1. Focus on and analyse one of the pedagogies introduced in a seminar. Choose from:

• Dialogic teaching (Alexander’s teacher-pupil talk) 

• Oracy (Mercer’s constructive small group talk) 

• Mindset (Dweck) 

• Process drama in English and across the curriculum  

• Managing and developing positive behaviour 

• Reading for Pleasure 

• Assessment for Learning 

This needs to be underpinned with appropriate academic reading to help you analyse,  argue and compare differing views met in your reading, rather than just describe the pedagogy. You also need to link this to the appropriate learning theories introduced in the module. This may be a short section, or woven in where appropriate, and you need to justify why it aligns with your focus pedagogy and is underpinned by academic reading. Do not write about all learning theories, just the aspects of those theories that are appropriate for your chosen pedagogy.  

You will then: 

2. Plan an activity that illustrates how your pedagogy could be put into practice. This needs to be underpinned by appropriate reading throughout so that you can justify how the activities you have chosen will help put your chosen pedagogy into practice.  Consider what the role of the teacher is, what they will do and why and what the children will do and why.
