The student will demonstrate the ability to assess, safely prioritise and plan care for a patient from the information given in the chosen scenario.
The assessment will include the identification and evaluation of socio‑economic and demographic factors that influence the patient’s usual functional patterns at home, as well as the alterations that have occurred since their admission to the acute inpatient environment.
Students will develop a plan of care from the assessment data, prioritising the nursing diagnoses, SMART Goals and, interventions, rationale and evaluation， demonstrating stage‑appropriate competence aligned with the NCNZ standards within the chosen scenario.
Rationale for planned nursing interventions and treatment will be demonstrated by clinical decision making, informed by evidenced based practice, principles of rehabilitation, Kawa whakaruruhau and is supported by integrated knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology.
The student will choose ONE scenario out of FOUR given scenarios to complete the case study including socio economic, demographic factors and informed consent.
