Assignment Brief 

Students are required to complete a 3000-word individual essay as an assessment for this module. This assignment will constitute 100% of the final module mark. The assignment will test the students’ critical understanding of theoretical perspectives on economics, globalisation and global business. The students will also need to show their skills in applying this theoretical knowledge to the analysis of their selected cases. They must critically draw upon relevant academic theory and research covered in the module and identified through their independent research and reading. 

For this assignment, you are asked to critically analyse how ONE specific multina-tional enterprise (MNE) is being affected by globalisation (including issues on sus-tainability) and government interventions in the conduct of that MNE. Your primary objective is to conduct an in-depth analysis focusing on a specific MNE and how these two factors affect the operations and performance of this particular MNE. You are expected to critically examine and present insights into the intricate relationship between these aspects and the conduct of the chosen MNE within the global business environment. This analysis should shed light on how external factors shape the strategies, decision-making, and overall functioning of the selected MNE. 

To complete this assignment, you will need to critically reflect, in light of your wider reading of academic literature concerned with the issues you focus on, on the opportunities and challenges for your selected MNE, and what the firm might do differently or more effectively to deal with them going forward.

This assignment requires that you undertake independent research to examine: 

• How selected factors affect your selected company? 
• How your selected MNE responds to the selected issues? 
• How are stakeholders (government, employees, shareholders, media and other stakeholders) interpreting and evaluating your selected MNE’s response to these issues? 
• What academically supported recommendations would you make to the MNE in how they should respond to these issues in the future? 

THE STRUCTURE (A suggested format of the essay should be as follows) 
The following provides specific guidance on writing the essay. The essay should contain the following: 

1. Introduction (around 500 words – briefly describe the MNE-its history, objectives, key activities, present situation, and stakeholders; Justify your selection of the MNE) 
2. Critically examine globalisation and its implication for the selected MNE etc.- 1000 words
3. Critically examine the role of government interventions (local and global) – 1000 words
4. Conclusion: summary and key recommendations for your selected company (500 words)
