Assessment Information

A successful career depends on developing the right attitudes and behaviours.  This journey of personal development begins with a reflection on where you are now and where you would like to be in the future.  By doing this, you can identify and focus on the competencies you need to develop during your time at university.  As a start to this journey, you are required to produce a personal development portfolio to appraise your current level of employability and prepare for your future career.

Assessment Tasks

Produce a personal development portfolio that includes ALL the following elements:

  • A personal audit of your personality, traits and goals using the Graduate+ Potential.ly system
  • An outline of the soft and hard skills required for the type of entry-level job role you aim to pursue after graduation, based upon an analysis of current advertisements for that job role
  • Evidence of your current competence in at least two soft skills and two hard skills needed for the job role identified in Task 2, supported by a written reflection on your current level of competence using an appropriate reflective framework
  • A personal development plan that shows how you will improve the soft and hard skills needed for the job role identified in Task 2, presented as a table
  • An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV), supported by screenshots that show the CV has been audited and improved based upon feedback from the Graduate+ CV360 system
  • A LinkedIn profile - exported from LinkedIn - that aligns with the CV presented in Task 5 and provides evidence of professional networking
  • A certificate of completion for either: (a) a Forage virtual experience programme relevant to your chosen degree; OR (b) the Bronze Graduate+ award

NOTE: An additional 10 marks are available for the level of professionalism evident in your work, including correct use of referencing of facts and frameworks.

Completion of this assessment will address the following learning outcomes:

  • Recognise and apply transferrable skills that are essential to a career in business
  • Use key software applications that are commonly used in the workplace
  • Demonstrate behaviours and attributes to improve their graduate employability
  • Create a personal development plan to enhance their academic and professional performance
