SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT

Summative assessment is used to check the level of learning at the end of the course. It is summative because it is based on accumulated learning during the course. The point is to ensure that students have met the learning outcomes for the course and are at the appropriate level. It is the summative assessment that determines the grade that you are awarded for the module. 

There are 2 assessment components in this module: Group coursework (30%) and Individual coursework (70%). 

Assessment brief:

You have recently established a start-up business consulting firm with a group of business professionals and you are currently interested in attracting new clients. In the coming few months, you are planning to identify a multinational enterprise (MNE) that can potentially become your client, and arrange a meeting with its senior management to promote your services. To differentiate yourself from competitors, you will provide the prospective MNE client with a report in which you identify a key challenge, of a strategic and international nature, the MNE is experiencing at the moment and you will offer recommendations for addressing this problem.

To prepare the report, your team needs to undertake extensive research to do the following:

• Identify a multinational enterprise with operations in different countries.
• Identify a strategic challenge the MNE is experiencing either regionally or globally.
• Undertake a comprehensive analysis of relevant aspects of the external business environment. 
• Undertake a comprehensive analysis of the internal firm environment. 
• Offer recommendations to the company on how to address the challenges encountered. 

The report needs to be presented in a professional manner (please see section 1.2) and should be 2,000 words +/-10% (excluding references and excluding 250 words on individual contributions). • • •
