Context 

Leadership is an important component of professional life, both the leadership of others and yourself. The development of your leadership knowledge will assist your career progression; in particular, enhancing your employability skills and informing ethical leadership behaviour, managing teams, and self-management as a hospitality leader.

 This assessment will evaluate your ability to identify and reflect on ethical leadership and effective leadership characteristics, through analysing, comparing and contrasting, and application of core leadership theories presented in this subject relating to topics taught in weeks 1 -7. 

Task Instructions 

You have been tasked with preparing a group report in which you conduct a leadership analysis, comparing and contrasting leadership profiles of leaders in your own work or study experience, including a portfolio with clear evidence of authenticity. 

These leaders must come from your circle of influence: a team leader, current manager, previous manager, or even a school principal. 

Please note: 

  • Your leader must be a real-life person in your experience, not a generic leader, nor an AI-generated or a fictional person.
  • You are required to provide strong evidence of the authenticity of your leaders -this can be in the form of photos, emails, letters of appointment, photos of your workplace and cities/towns where you worked together, testimonials, notes, a transcribed interview, a recorded interview ... be creative and imaginative! This portfolio of evidence can form part of the body of your report or can be attached as appendices. 
  • Your leader must not be a family member, unless you have worked for them as an employee.
  • Your leader must not be a famous person who can be profiled from a Google search or Chat GPT.
  • Group sizes must not exceed 2 students. In the case of uneven class sizes, one group may consist of 3 students.
  • Each group member must profile one leader. If there is one group of 3, this will mean 3 leaders.
  • Be specific and give clear examples of how your leaders meet these criteria and provide justifications/reasons for your opinions. 

Content and Content Components 

Your report must contain the content components below: 

  • TUA Individual Assessment Cover Sheet
  • Executive summary (around 250 words)
  • Table of contents
  • Introduction: Background information, including information about the leaders and the organisation you work/worked together. Address the questions who/where/when/why
  • Body of report, with clear headings and clear paragraphs (no columns or tables, and do not use the word 'Body'):
