University University of Liverpool Module Title LAW585 - International Financial Crime

1, 'Multi-jurisdictional offences should not require the leadership of a single country's law enforcement authorities to investigate and enforce those crimes. As numerous countries are impacted by transnational bribery and corruption, it is appropriate that such crimes be investigated and enforced through the auspices of an international anti-corruption court.'

You are an intern at an international law firm considering its options on how to expand its transnational bribery and corruption practice. It is unsure whether an international anti-corruption court is a plausible prospect in the medium term. Write a briefing paper critically considering the above statement, making specific reference to your knowledge of the international legal frameworks currently governing the enactment and enforcement EITHER bribery OR corruption offences, and your knowledge of the investigation and enforcement of such offences in practice.

2. Select any jurisdiction for which there is a FATF Mutual Evaluation available

Identify the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen country's anti-money laundering framework and reflect critically, on what this tells us (a) about the effectiveness of your chosen jurisdiction's anti-money laundering response and (b) what we learn about the effectiveness of the FATF's work in light of your analysis
