LAW 498 - Advanced Legal Research, Writing and Communication 

Overview

LAW 498 is a compulsory requirement of the LLB/LLB(Hons) degree completion of which requires you to

A. successfully complete a senior level moot AFTER having successfully completed ALL core courses at Parts I and II and 

B. successfully complete a written piece of work in conjunction with an elective course in Part III or IV, supervised research or Honours seminar paper.

There are no other attendance or participation requirements attaching to the successful completion of this course the other requirements for which are detailed below:

1. Every LLB and LLB (Hons) student must enrol in and successfully complete the requirements of LAW 498.
2. LAW 498 must be completed as part of the final semester of study on your LLB programme. Honours students should complete it before the dissertation.
3. If, after you enrol in LAW 498, you have not completed all requirements within two semesters you will receive a ‘DNC’ on your transcript.
4. Summer School does not count in this calculation. So for example, if you have enrolled in LAW 498 in semester one of 2025 but do not complete the course requirements by the end of semester two in 2025 then your transcript will include a DNC for this course.
