Purpose of this Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is for you to demonstrate your understanding of the role of marketing as a business function for more responsible business in an increasingly global and digitised world. You will explore challenges and benchmarks for ethical and sustainable marketing. You are tasked to critically analyse and evaluate one organisation and benchmark its

CSR marketing practices against a third party standard/ benchmark/ criteria.

You can choose any benchmark that suits your business such as UN Global Compact, PRME. B Corp, FTSE4Good, Dow Jones Sustainability Index, WWF Sustainable Luxury.

Task Required

  • Critically analyse and evaluate your chosen organisations CSR marketing practices and make suitable argument develop a line of reasoning to justify your response to the title/question. 
  • Your essay should consist of an introduction of the organisation, the third party benchmark you are using and examples/ case study material of the organisation as evidence of your scrutiny.
  • You can draw on examples of other similar organisations to compare and discuss the organisations approach to its CSR and marketing practices.

Learning outcomes: 

On successful completion the student should be able to:

  • LO2. Examine and debate some of the contested issues and complex problems which marketers
  • encounter and the role marketing plays in responsible and ethical corporate citizenship.
  • LO3. Evaluate alternative responses to contemporary challenges in international marketing.
