Assignment Task 

You are required to deliver an individual 10-minute presentation to your campus tutor. Your presentation should be based on the area in which you live and a local community project. Your  presentation should cover the following: 

• Explain the demography of the locality on which your presentation is based (for example the  size, age, structure, and economics of the population). (LO 1) 

• Explain how populations and community has changed over time. (LO 2) 

• Explain what the current challenges are, including the impact of crime on communities. (LO 1,  LO 4) 

• Identify those people within your locality who are vulnerable or marginalised and explain why.  (LO 3) 

• Describe the community project that you have identified which supports this  vulnerable/marginalised group. (LO 3) 

• Explain how the project makes a difference to the community. (LO2, LO 3, LO 4)

1. Examine the changing demography of UK society and discuss the issues of social and cultural  diversity within the context of community. 

2. Develop a broad understanding of various definitions of communities within a range of contexts  and how these have changed over time. 

3. Identify those who are vulnerable and marginalised within society and discuss how communities  can support these people.  

4. Examine the impact of crime on communities and how this can be tackled.
