The aim of this course:
This course introduces students to analyse the needs of the person to maximize his/her independence, workplace safety and security, including emergency and evacuation procedures and using various equipment to assist a person’s mobility. It also provides an opportunity to learn more about a person’s needs, the Maori holistic needs model and the engagement of various stakeholders to provide quality care. Moreover, it also covers risk analysis, back care and Discomfort, Pain and Injury management procedures.
1. Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes in a health and begin setting to provide health and well-being services ethically and professionally.
2. Recognise and respond to signs of vulnerability and abuse in a health and well-being setting
3. Communicate effectively in a culturally appropriate manner to support a person’s health or well-being
4. Provide culturally appropriate person-centred health and well-being support to maximise a person’s independence.
5. Recognise and respond to signs of functional, behavioural, environmental, or other health or well-being changes in a person in a home community setting.
