4. Demonstrate the ability to conduct an evaluation of the effectiveness of a public health intervention on a topic and make recommendations to address identified problems.
5. Graduate attribute: Responsible Global Citizenship: Understand global issues and their place in a globalised economy, ethical decision-making and accountability. Adopt self- awareness openness and sensitivity to diversity in culture.

Assignment Task

This assignment is worth 100% of the marks for the module.

Primary care health systems are moving towards more of a focus on prevention rather than treatment of illness. This means supporting patients to adopt improved healthy lifestyle behaviours. This will help patients to live healthier and longer as well as reduce pressure on primary care.

This assignment is split into two parts:

Part (a)
You will carry out a review of public health exploring the history approaches and theories that underpin the public health. You will also explore the tools and evidence that could be applied to make public health decisions and the ethical implications for those decisions on the people affected by the intervention.

1. Identify and describe any four (4) different public health interventions located in or working in partnership with primary care. Discuss the concepts and principles of public health that underpin each of these interventions.

Part (b)
Extend this review to an identified public health intervention providing a clear description of the intervention its objectives and processes and determine if it has been effective or not using data and evidence and make recommendations for improvement includes sections 2, 3 and 4 below).

2. Examine the evidence for one of the interventions chosen and discuss if the intervention would be beneficial in your local area.

3. Redesign any one of the interventions chosen and discuss what changes you would make to improve its quality and outcomes, with reasons.

4.Describe ways to evaluate any one of the public health interventions chosen.
