Assessment Task 

In this 3000-word assignment, you are asked to design a short research instrument, in an area of your choice with a reflective analysis of the principles used in the design.

You are asked to choose a hypothesis to test or a research question to answer and describe your preferred research paradigm underlying your approach to testing the hypothesis and/or answering the question.  The rationale and justification for the choice of the research instrument should be detailed, including information on several areas like the sampling framework that would be used to enable the research question to be answered, the mode of using/distributing the instrument for data collection, along with a thorough assessment of the relative costs, benefits, advantages and drawbacks of the approach adopted, when compared with possible alternatives.

• LO1: Explain the relationship between research paradigms, the research topic and question and the choice of research methods in the field of education and a chosen quantitative/qualitative data set.
• LO2: Explain the design of appropriate research instruments relevant to data collection in Education. 
• LO3: Demonstrate skill in the use of relevant and ethical research instruments (qualitative and/or quantitative) through being able to develop appropriate instruments.
