CI7320 - ‘Flight Punctuality’ Exercise: Databases & Data Management – Assignment 2 , Kingston University

The data set provided for this assignment is punctuality statistics for selected UK airports. There are 12 files for each month of 2023. Airport IATA codes can be found at iata.org.

For this assignment, you will be reporting on how the data could be used for research using data
warehouse and Tableau.

The report should include the following:

1.  Discuss the benefits of building a data warehouse for the data set provided.
2. Design a data warehouse using a star schema. You must justify your design decisions. 
3. Write the CREATE table statements for the tables in your star schema (include all primary
   and foreign keys). 
4. Discuss the steps you took in creating and populating the database. This should include the steps you took in preparing the data and the transformation tasks performed. Include screenshots of your populated tables.
5.  Discuss the advantages that OLAP cubes offer to the airline industry as a whole. Provide two examples of OLAP cube applications within your discussion, ensuring that the cubes are illustrated.
6. Create 4 visualizations using Tableau. For each visualization, you should include the
   following:
   a)Aim of the visualization
   b)The steps you took to create the visualization
   c)Key findings from the visualization
