BUSS611 Organisational Decision-Making Skills Assignment 1

This assignment is worth 40% of the total marks in the course and will cover the following learning outcomes as listed in the Course Outline:

Learning Outcome 1: Analyse and evaluate an organisation’s processes and procedures and their responsibilities toward society and the environment.
Learning Outcome 2: Search for, and review literature relevant to an organisational problem or challenge.
Learning Outcome 4: Utilise data visualisation tools to aid with communicating insights.

General Instructions:

• Include a cover page that includes your name, student ID, course code and title, assignment title
• The word limit for this assignment is 1500 words (±10%), excluding the spider-diagram and references.
• All sources should be acknowledged in the main body of the assignment and in a reference list at the end of the assignment. You are also required to reference any tools/software/applications used. Refer to the 7th edition of the APA referencing style guide. Examples of how to present references can be found here
• Your assignment should be your own work to demonstrate your thinking. Any direct quotes from any source should be placed in “quotation marks”.
• Upon submission, your assignment will be checked for copied materials as well as the use of AI (artificial intelligence), with penalties to be applied where appropriate and if not referenced.
• You may resubmit draft versions of your assignment until the due date. On the due date, the latest version will be accepted as the final version. Note that similarity reports may take 24 hours to generate.

• Late submissions will be penalised by 5% of the available marks from the marks awarded per day (24 hours) for up to four days and receive a zero mark after four days (96 hours).
• Note: Any use of software, including artificial intelligence tools, should be appropriately attributed, and a declaration detailing how AI was used (including screenshots of prompts) should be included as an appendix. Please note that while the use of AI may be used as a tool for idea generation, it should be used with integrity as with any other source. Failure to comply will result in a referral to the SDC.

Question 1 – LO1 (10 marks)

Analyse and evaluate an organisation’s processes and procedures focusing on corporate social responsibility (CSR). 
Propose a workable monitoring system for CSR that aligns with organisational goals.   

Question 2 - LO4 (10 marks)

Write a detailed problem statement for a self-selected organisation or situation. 
Draw a detailed spider-diagram following the format found here: https://thesiswhisperer.com/2015/05/13/how-to-become-a-literature-searching-ninja/The spider-diagram can be drawn by hand on paper and inserted in your document as a photo or created using software tools. You must ensure that your spider-diagram is clearly legible in the document before uploading the assignment.

Question 3 – LO2 (20 marks)

Using your spider diagram identify five (5) key topic areas that will help you to research the problem statement above

3.1    Find an academic journal article from the AIS Library database/s relating to each of the separate five key topic areas that you have identified

• Five articles in total with each article dealing with one of the separate key topic areas.
• Ensure that each article is listed using a full bibliographic reference as per APA 7th ed.

3.2    Write a 750-word summary and critical analysis of the five articles. Highlight key findings, compare insights and provide own evaluations.
