Assignment No. | PR1 |
Assignment Type | Group Presentation (25 minutes plus questions) |
You are required to work in a group of between 3 and 4 people to produce a 25-minute presentation on a Global Employee Mobility Programme Proposal.
The presentation should highlight your knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and a critical analysis of the key Human Resource strategies and practices across the countries in question.
You will need to produce a PowerPoint slide pack of no more than 20 slides of content and a full list of references and resources.
You should also complete a PESTLE analysis (a template is available in BlackBoard) with specific reference to human resources.
You will also need to keep and submit a log of group preparation activities and personal contributions, as well as an individual reflection (templates are available in BlackBoard). There are marks for personal contribution.
Questions will also be allowed for up to 10 minutes.
In an increasingly connected world, businesses must adapt to changing global demands. Leveraging talent across borders is one way in which organisations can improve their competitive edge. International assignments (IAs) can provide enhanced skill sets through exposure to different working environments and contexts, encourage retention of key individuals by providing opportunities for personal growth and career development, as well as giving the organisation flexibility to deploy key talent where it can be used to the best strategic advantage. The downsides include the navigation of complex compliance issues around law, tax and immigration. It can also be costly, both financially but also for families.
You work for a pharmaceutical organisation with a Head Office in the UK. Over the past decade, the organisation has been part of several high-profile takeovers and mergers, both locally and abroad. The new Global Director of HR has asked for a presentation on some key information and analysis as part of a report for a new global employee mobility programme.
You can choose ONE of the following 4 regions
Your presentation should cover at least 2 countries from your chosen region, together with the UK.
You should complete a PESTLE analysis for the countries you have chosen, including the UK, with specific reference to human resources. (LO4).
Your presentation should include the following, and you should also refer to the PESTLE analysis you have produced, as well as theories and models of human resource management.
You should produce and submit to Turnitin a personal reflective account of no more than 250 words on how you can apply this learning to your own proposed career path.
