Discuss the importance of sustainability for businesses that operates internationally. Explore how sustainability practices impact various aspects of cross-border operations and why it is important for companies to prioritise sustainability in a global context.

• Explain the importance of sustainability in the context of international business.
• Discuss the benefits and challenges of integrating sustainability practices into cross-border operations.

Task 2 Triple bottom line (LO2)

Discuss what the Triple Bottom Line is. You should

• Explain the three interconnected components of triple bottom line: People, Planet, and Profit.
• Analyse why Triple Bottom Line is important for a modern international business.

Task 3 Create a sustainability plan for Next (LO3)

Next plc, commonly known as Next, is a British multinational retailer that specialises selling clothes and home products. It was established in 1864 and is reaching customers in over 100 countries through its online website www.nextdirect.com/. Next have more than 500 stores in over 40 different countries including the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

As Next is looking for fresh sustainability ideas, they have contacted you to create a new sustainability plan for them.

1) You should start by providing an overall company review by explaining:

• In which industry Next operates
• What kind of products or services Next sells and
• List a few different countries where Next operates

2)You should research Next’s current sustainability plan to understand their current sustainability strategies.
3)After researching Next, you should outline new sustainability plan for Next, which includes:

• New sustainability strategy introducing at least two different ideas of what Next should do next. Use SMART goals to present your ideas.
• You should discuss how Next would benefit for implementing your sustainability strategy ideas.
  The word count for this task should be approximately 600 words, excluding any references, in-text citations, and/or appendices.

Task 4 Personal reflection

Reflect on the skills you used in writing the report and the sustainability plan. These could include for 
example developing research skills, learning how to structure a report and how to communicate your ideas 
through writing. Suggest how you could develop your skills further.

Aim to write around 300 words and place this personal reflection and place it to the appendices.
