This assignment is a Project Report based on the Module Project Brief.
It is based on the module project brief and all tasks completed as part of a working group.
You'll need to do a report detailing all the work executed as a group; however, the report will be individually assessed (based on your contribution to team goals). It should cover all the workshop activity tasks.
It is recommended that you submit your reports as soon as you complete them, even if this is before Week 7, as part of managing your task load
Design a logo, poster and 90-second viral video for a reusable water bottle to encourage people to reduce their use of single-use plastic. The starting point of any work task is a match of the organisation’s needs to the skill sets required of employees. In a randomly allocated group of 4, you will brainstorm details for a weekly project brief that will serve as a job description with no fewer than 10 points. You will then collectively decide on the job description to work towards with the guidance of your workshop tutor. Groups will rotate in the uptake of relevant team roles for the project task as summarised in the table below:
Project Manager |
The project manager leads the other team members and organises the overall mission. Project managers typically create and organise the team, assigning the other project roles. Other responsibilities of the project manager include creating schedules and deadlines, organising, and managing a budget for the project, delegating tasks, and providing updates to stakeholders. |
Business Analyst |
Also known as a resource manager, a business analyst ensures project teams have the technology, tools and resources needed to work efficiently. When a project team encounters a problem, a business analyst provides the resources needed to find a solution. Resource managers and business analysts ensure team members have the necessary tools to fulfil their roles, and they analyse a team’s resources to ensure they are meeting defined objectives. |
Subject Matter Expert |
To promote project efficiency, project managers might assign specific topics to team members, who become subject matter experts in the area. They are available to offer specialist input as needed and might be called upon to aid in making decisions related to their area of expertise. |
Project Team Member |
Every project team is composed of members who are assigned duties within the sphere of the project. A project member might be assigned a single duty, or they could be awarded multiple assignments. Project team member roles include contributing to the overall project objectives and collaborating with the overall team to meet business needs. |
Being present at work is essential. To replicate this essential feature of the world of work in this module, your final mark will be weighed against your attendance record. You will sign a physical attendance log in both the lecture and workshop sessions.
This assignment is designed to assess the following learning outcomes:
1. Gain valuable experience and develop work-related skills
2. Relate and critically examine selected academic knowledge and skills to specific industry situations
3. Demonstrate work ethic and commitment in a work-based environment
4. Evidence learning and development in relation to work-based objectives
5. Implement time and project management principles in context
Your coursework will be given a zero mark if you do not submit a copy through Turnitin. Please take care to ensure that you have fully submitted your work.
Please ensure that you have submitted your work using the correct file format; unreadable files will receive a mark of zero. The Faculty accepts Microsoft Office and PDF documents, unless otherwise advised by the module leader.
All work submitted after the submission deadline without a valid and approved reason will be subject to the University regulations on late submissions.
If an assessment is submitted up to 24 hours late, the mark for the work will be capped at the pass mark of 40 per cent for undergraduate modules or 50 per cent for postgraduate modules.
If an assessment is submitted beyond 24 hours late, the work will receive a mark of zero per cent.
The above applies to a student’s first attempt at the assessment. If work submitted as a reassessment of a previously failed assessment task is submitted later than the deadline, the work will immediately be given a mark of zero per cent.
If an assessment, which is marked as pass/fail rather than given a percentage mark, is submitted later than the deadline, the work will immediately be marked as a fail.
The University wants you to do your best. However, we know that sometimes events happen which mean that you can’t submit your coursework by the deadline – these events should be beyond your control and not easy to predict. If this happens, you can apply for an extension to your deadline for up to five working days, or if you need longer, you can apply for a deferral, which takes you to the next assessment period (for example, to the re-sit period following the main Assessment Boards). You must apply before the deadline for your assessment. You will find information about applying for extensions and deferrals here.
Students MUST keep a copy and/or an electronic file of their assignment.
Checks will be made on your work using anti-plagiarism software and approved plagiarism checking websites.
