Assessment Information - What you need to do 

This assignment is an individual assignment. 
This assignment requires you to prepare an individual Business Research Report, comprising 2000 words. The report is divided into two sections, each with distinct objectives and weightings: 

Section 1:

Conduct a comprehensive financial data analysis of a selected company, employing both descriptive and predictive analytics methodologies. This section should focus on extracting meaningful insights from the data and predicting future trends. 

Section 2:

Formulate a research question based on the findings from the financial data analysis in Section 1. This section should also address the ethical considerations associated with conducting research in this context and provide a critical review of the existing literature related to the research question.

The specific requirements for each section are outlined below: 

Structure, coherence, clarity and presentation -10% This section evaluates the quality of the manuscript's structural design, including elements such as the title page, table of contents, and references, as well as the adherence to DMU Harvard referencing and citation guidelines.  

Section 1: 

1. Visit IBISWorld: Go to the IBISWorld website at UM/althorn. 

2. Navigate to Industry Trends: Select Resources -> Industry Trends -> Fastest Growing Industries in 2025 in the United Kingdom. 

3. Choose an Industry and a Company: From the list of fastest-growing industries in the UK, select one industry. Then, choose one company operating within your selected industry. Provide a brief explanation of why you chose this particular industry and company. 

4. Access FAME Database: Go to the DMU Library website and navigate as follows: Database A-Z -> Browse All Databases -> FAME. 

5. Search for Company Information: In the FAME database, enter the name of the company you have chosen and perform a search. 

6. Describe the Company Profile: Provide a brief description of the company's profile based on the information obtained from the FAME database. The combined weight of the first six steps accounts for 2026 of the Section 1.

7. Export Financial Data: In the top right corner, click on Excel and select Export to download the company's financial data.

8. Ensure Data Adequacy: Make sure that the exported data includes at least 5 variables (rows) and 5 time periods (columns). 

9. Analyse Descriptive Statistics: Using the financial data, explain the descriptive statistics for the variables (rows). Your analysis should cover: 

• Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median, Mode (10%)
• Measures of Dispersion: Range, Variance, Standard Deviation (10%)
• Pearson Correlation (10%)

10. Interpret Findings in a Business Context (10%): Discuss the implications of your findings from business perspective, considering how these statistical measures reflect the company's financial performance. 

11. Develop a Multiple Linear Regression Model (10%): From your dataset, choose one dependent variable and assume the others are independent variables. Build a multiple linear regression model and interpret the results. Discuss the significance of your model and the relationships between the dependent and independent variables. 

Section 2 (20%): 

1. Formulate a Research Question (5%): Based on your chosen industry, company, and statistical analysis, construct a research question and provide a brief explanation. 

2. Discuss Ethical Considerations (5%): Identify the main ethical considerations, concerns, and limitations from a research ethics standpoint related to your research question. 

3. Conduct a Critical Literature Review (10%): Perform a literature review on your research question, highlighting gaps in the existing literature. Your review should include a minimum of 5 academic, peer-reviewed journal articles and/or conference papers published within the last 5 years (2021-2025).
