The Assignment Task (s)

This Assignment was developed to assess the following Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the rationale for costing, and the nature and behaviour of various types of cost within organisations.
  •  Apply costing processes to serve various purposes within the organisation.

AFE_4_MAC Assignment brief (Coursework 1)

Research-based coursework.

Task 1.1: Discuss the need for overhead allocation and apportionment. 

Prepare an overhead allocation and apportionment schedule clearly showing the basis of apportionment for each overhead, calculate the unit cost of production under the conventional costing method using the appendix data on the next page    (40 marks)

15 narks available for correct calculation and 5 marks for a good, formatted presentation, 

Task 1.2: The availability of computers and sophisticated financial software has made budgeting a routine process.

Required:

  • Discuss the importance of budgeting and the documents involved in budget preparation.  (20 marks)
  • Critically discuss the incremental budgeting and rolling budgeting, including suitability in a changing business environment and measuring performance in an organisation (30 marks)

Marks for professionalism, and presentation (including the cover page, contents page, presentation, paragraphing, and punctuation, in-text citations, reference list)(10 Marks) 

Your report must be supported by management accounting literature - you must therefore include references using the Harvard referencing standard.  

Your Essay Must:

Show clear evidence of research through correctly citing various sources throughout the report and providing a complete set of references that follow the Harvard style of referencing.

Be completed, proofread, and submitted by the deadline via the link on the Moodle site.
