Assessment Task Details and Instructions

Your research proposal should include the following with a detailed explanation of each section and supporting statements and claims with relevant literature.

• Introduction: What is the topic about (and perhaps what it isn’t)? Possibly – what your engagement is with the topic.
• Background - literature review (evidence by contemporary literature). Justify the topic by (how many people it affects globally and nationally, specific populations such as minority groups, cost to society and individuals, implications for professional practice, statistical trends (example: forecasting a worsening of a situation) and identify any gap in knowledge/literature) – This leads to the development of the research question – problem statement aims to address the gap identified in the literature.
• Significance and relevance of the study- explain the potential significance of the proposed study to your field of practice and the
  entire population.
• Aim(s) and objectives: Clarity and feasibility of the aim(s) and objectives of the research.
• Methods - Support for your choice of method (qualitative quantitative or mixed method).
• Ethical considerations – Avoid talking of principles (beneficence, non-maleficence, etc). Say what risk-analysis approach as proposed by Long and Johnson (2007) – ref in your handbook. Identify the risks to participants.
