ZEIT8017 Assignment 3:

This is the third and final assignment, and it is worth 50% of the total course grade. This third assignment is due onMonday 2 June 11:55 pm Canberra time. It will require research on the topic described below, related to the field of cybercrime and cybersecurity. While some online readings from books and papers will be provided on the course MOODLE site, additional Internet research will be required to provide the essential preparation and background that is needed to succeed in completing this assignment. Revise the course slides and add more from your additional readings. 

ZEIT8017 Presentation Topic 

Cybersecurity is a major concern in the information technology (IT) environment and is one of the most important aspects of implementing any IT infrastructure. The concept involves identifying potential vulnerabilities and instituting effective strategies to minimize the effect of possible threats. Cybersecurity is a quality improvement initiative adopted by organizations to monitor and ensure the integrity of their systems against unauthorized entry. 

ZEIT8017 Research Task 

While the term cybersecurity is often invoked in many information technology and data management settings, its explicit definition and underpinning principles are rarely discussed. Provide an in-depth examination of the concept, including exploring its origin and historical application and reviewing its evolution over the past decades and adoption during the digital era. The construct's implications in the contemporary information technology environment will also need to be explicitly discussed, along with its underpinning best practices.

ZEIT8017 Aims 

The essay must show how much the author learned about: 

• LO1 - Explain the cybercrime and cyber security perspectives and their impact, 
• LO2 - Discuss cybercrime laws and prevention strategies,
• LO3 - Critically evaluate the current legislation that impacts cybercrimes and law enforcement responses to this legislation. 
• LO4 - Understand the impact of cybercrime on society and the security measures to prevent them.

Hints 

• A student must address the research tasking and support their answers using references. Please use the APA 6 / Chicago NB referencing system for your citations. 
• A student must format her/his research into a basic academic paper structure and save it into a PDF file and submit it online before or on the due date, as listed in the Moodle Course Outline. 
• The assessment will be checked against Plagiarism by Turnitin, and your assessment should have less than a 25% similarity rate. 
• A student must submit the PDF File, through the Moodle Submission link provided in the "Assessment Information and Submission Boxes" section. 
• Late assignments that do not have approved extensions will incur penalties at a rate not exceeding 10% per whole, or part day, late. Submissions that are more than six days late, without prior arrangement, will automatically incur a grade of FAIL.
