UZYKH3-15-1 Module learning outcomes assessed by this task:

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of peripheral neuro-musculoskeletal pathophysiology and conditions
• Select and apply safe and appropriate assessment skills in relation to peripheral neuro-musculoskeletal conditions (excluding hand and foot) 
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the clinical reasoning process involved within a peripheral neuro-musculoskeletal context 
• Select and apply safe and appropriate management strategies in relation to peripheral neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.

Submission and feedback dates:

Submission deadline: The SOPE will take place on 22nd & 23rd of May. Of note: Re-sits will beheld the first week after placement. Week Commencing 21st July  2025. Please do not book flights/ holidays in this week. Please talk with Programme or module leader. Submission format: Not applicable. This is a practical exam. Specific times to be released in a timetable two weeks before the SOPE.

Marks and Feedback due on: Supplied no later than 20 working days after the practical date

N.B. all times are 24-hour clock, current local time (at time of submission) in the UKMarks and Feedback will be provided via: Blackboard. Feedback form from examiner will be included.

What am I required to do on this assessment?

The assessment will consist of a Structured Oral Practical Exam (SOPE) that will assess theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This mode of assessment will test your ability to demonstrate competent clinically related skills such as handling, palpation, joint movement,objective testing, treatment strategies and application. Students’ underpinning knowledge will be explored through related questioning.

Aspects of safety, patient care, communication and professionalism will also be assessed, all of which are important skills for a physiotherapist.

Random Case study given: Read, answer the posed questions and generate thoughts your objective and treatment plans: (10 mins). Example case studies are in your workbooks page 27. This section is not marked and you can look at this all the way through the SOPE.

Objective component: Questions and practical application directly related to objective assessment (10 mins). The questions you will be asked are in your workbooks page 28.

Treatment Component: Questions and practical application directly related to treatment strategy (10 mins). The questions you will be asked are in your workbooks page 28.
