QSA152 Instructions to Students:

• This is a GROUP assignment.
• Each group MUST consist of between 3-4 persons per group ONLY.
• The report must consist of a table of contents, an acknowledgement, and the content of research, conclusion, references and appendices.
• Please employ either Times New Roman (font size 12) or Arial (font size 11) and justify alignment.
• References format should be in APA format.
• The report must be original. All works must be cited. Any form of plagiarism will not be tolerated.
• All submissions must be in ENGLISH and submitted via email/uFuture in PDF format. Creativity is encouraged.
• Delay in submission shall be treated as NON-SUBMISSION.
• Your report must not exceed 25 pages. 

QSA152 Assignment Outcomes: 

Upon completion, students should have the: 

1. EMPLOY the relevant construction technology for above ground architectural works and basic principles of structure for timber. (CO1) 
2. ILLUSTRATE by using technical sketches, the relevant construction technology for above-ground architectural works. (CO2)

1. Propose in the form of a drawing a floor plan of a single-storey bungalow house consisting of

a. At least 4 bedrooms (1 master bedroom and 3 other bedrooms)
b. 3 bathrooms/toilets
c. 1 dry kitchen and 1 wet kitchen
d. 1 dining area
e. 1 living room
f. 1 store room

You may sketch the floor plan by hand, by using any software, or by using any other existing drawings that you may have.

2. Propose the most suitable type of INTERNAL FLOOR, WALL and CEILING FINISHES for all of the areas in Question 1;

a. Master bedroom MUST use carpet, while ONE other bedroom MUST use Kempas timber strip/or other form of timber flooring as floor finishes:
b. At least TWO (2) different types of internal ceiling finishes for the whole building:
c. At least TWO (2) different types of internal wall finishes for the whole building:
e. At least ONE (1) type of window.

3. Justify your selection in Question 2, and then explain the installation processes, and the advantages and disadvantages of ALL the proposed finishes.

4. You may include any other relevant photographs/pictures, and sketches in your assignment.

The contents of your report shall include the following:-

1) Sketch of the building. (10 marks)
ii) Propose and justify the wall, ceiling, and floor finishes used in the building. (15 marks)
iii) Installation of the finishes chosen. (20 marks)
i) Advantages/disadvantages of finishes chosen. (20 marks)
ii) Suitability of the finishes chosen. (10 marks)
iii) Propose, justify, and discuss the suitability of doors and windows (s). (15 marks)
iv) Conclusion, appendices, and overall structure of report (10 marks)
