M34011 Assessment Description 

You are required to prepare a Wiki addressing information integration for an engineering system and information system requirements, according to the brief given below. Also, you will attend a Viva to demonstrate your understanding of the contents and contribute to the development of the wikis.

Module Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to

• LO1 Critically analyse and evaluate the requirements for information integration for an engineering system and effectively apply advanced information and communication technologies.
• L02 Critically analyse information system requirements by taking account of commercial and industrial constraints and create an implementation strategy for effective information processing and management.
• L03 Critically evaluate and apply the theories and practices for managing organisational and technological change, and examine existing organisational structures and operational processes, and assess their strength and weaknesses for adapting to changes and new situations.
• LO4 Critically evaluate and apply the theories and practices for managing organisational and technological change, including the role of the project manager in engineering and technological sectors.

M34011 Assessment Task

In this assignment, you can work either individually or in a group of up to 4 students. You are required to prepare a three-section draft of a wiki, as detailed below [70 Marks]. Also, you will attend a Viva to demonstrate your understanding of the contents and contribute to the development of the wikis [30 Marks]

Section 1: Value of Information Wiki [20 Marks]

1. Critically assess the value of information in relation to the engineering information system. Support your assessment with adequate examples/references that are related to the decision to invest in an engineering information system. This can include links to research papers.

2 Finish your wiki with one example of computing the value of information when considering an investment in an engineering information system or the acquisition of engineering data. This can be a real-life example, a fictitious/theoretical example, or an example inspired by a research publication.

Section 2: Knowledge Management Wiki [20 Marks]

1. Create a wiki page to critically analyse the difference in impact between IoT and blockchain technologies in the context of energy management or preventive maintenance. You must use an example(s) to support your argument.
