  • Explores strategic decision-making
  • Design international strategies
  • Implement multinational corporate strategy across different countries.

Global Business Strategy Module Learning Outcomes

  • Explore the strategic and organisational challenges in the global business environment and provide students with frameworks for dealing with them.
  • Evaluate strategies for exploiting overseas business opportunities.

Module Learning Activities

During the lecture, I will explain the topic in the module’s schedule every week. Every week during the seminar in group settings, we will discuss the following:

  • Main book, chapter discussion questions.
  • Closing case study questions in the main book.
  • In some weeks, I will announce different activities.

The discussion will help you to practice the previous week's topic and put the concepts into practice.

In addition, weekly activities will hone your skills and develop your knowledge, which will support your success in this module.

The assessment is a portfolio of group and individual activities, so engagement and collaboration with classmates are critical to your success and that of other students.

You will be required to work in groups to complete weekly chapter discussion questions, and you will need to submit an individual reflective report based on your group-allocated chapter.

Attendance at your presentations and other classmates' presentations will be part of your overall success, so please check the assessment brief.

Formative Assessment:

Students are required to work in groups of 5. They will give a 10-minute presentation in class, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session. Each group will be asked to answer the weekly core-book discussion questions and will be allocated a slot. The groups will be disseminated in the first week of the seminar, and presentations could start from week 2, so please be aware of the module team announcement.

Attendance is mandatory for this activity, not only for your presentation but also for other groups' presentations; failure to do so will be reported to the engagement team and will affect your success.

You must participate actively in the seminar discussion during your presentation and other students' presentations, and engage with the learning materials. You should submit a reflective report based on this activity, so please refer to the assessment brief for further information about the impact of this activity on your final grade.

Students could adopt several approaches to designing the presentation. Still, they are advised to develop a work that reflects a good critical understanding of the concepts.

Students should consider the following:

  • You need to read the relevant chapter and understand the concepts; you might need to hear the lecturer's recording to understand the concepts.
  • You need to provide a good use of strategy tools relevant to the chapter.
  • You can choose who will present on the day. Ideally, two group members, but everyone must answer the follow-up questions.
  • You should prepare for your presentation, and every group member should be able to answer the follow-up questions. HINT: Good performance is only achieved by reading and engagement with the materials and sound research.
  • The follow-up questions will be discussed with the seminar group, so every student in the relevant seminar group is expected to answer the questions and provide discussion. Hint: Please refer to the summative assessment brief to see how this activity can affect your final grade and how to report your absence formally.
