IT Research Skills Assignment: Literature Review & Research Question on Computing Topic for CCT College Dublin

Research Question & Literature Review (30% Weighting)

The principal focus of this module is to help students to plan and develop a piece of academic research.

Students will be required to identify a topic area of interest that relates to IT – this will lead to a literature review in which the topic/problem area is critically explored. The findings of the literature review will inform the creation of your primary research project.

For this part of the research, students should write a brief rationale for the project with one research question and a literature review. You can use any sources you wish to help frame your work – ultimately you are performing the investigation so you must decide on which source material is the most appropriate in addressing your research question..

The Format For This Submission Should Be As Follows;

1. CCT cover sheet
2. Table of contents (use headings and subheadings)
3. Introduction & Rationale (What area are you focusing on and why? What areas of your programme are directly linked to the area under investigation? Why would it be relevant to the reader? Does it have a global, local application?)
4. Research Question (what is the specific thing you are trying to find out/prove?)
5. Literature Review (brief introduction, main body of work, draw brief conclusions)
6. Reference List (constructed using the Harvard referencing style)

Note – Word count for the assignment (excluding table of contents and references) is min of 1500 words, max of 2500 words.
