OB Assessment 2: Aim of the Assessment:

This assessment aims to develop your ability to critically analyse the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on key concepts of organisational behaviour. By engaging with the theoretical frameworks introduced during the course, you will explore how AI is reshaping traditional and contemporary organisational practices, influencing both the workforce and organisational structures. This exercise will enhance your critical thinking, academic writing, and research skills, which are essential for your studies in the Bachelor of Business program.

Assessment Task:

You are required to write a critical essay that examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on any two of the following organisational behaviour topics:

• Week 2: Taylorism, Fordism, Weber, McDonaldization, etc.
• Week 3: The Social People and the Organisation
• Week 4: Culture
• Week 5: The Learning Worker and Organisation
• Week 7: Teams
• Week 8: Change
• Week 9: Corporate Social Responsibility & Ethics
• Week 10: Sustainable Business
• Week 11: Machine and Us

Choose any two topics from the list above and critically analyse how AI is influencing these aspects within organisations. Your essay should present a balanced argument, highlighting both the potential benefits and challenges associated with AI. Additionally, you should draw on either

a) relevant academic literature, b) case studies, or c) real-world examples to support your analysis.

Structure of the Essay:

1. Introduction (200-300 words):

• Introduce the chosen topics and provide a brief overview of how AI is relevant to these areas of organisational behaviour.
• State your thesis or main argument.

2. Literature Review (400-500 words):

• Summarise the key theories, concepts, and discussions related to your chosen topics.
• Discuss how these topics have traditionally been understood before the widespread adoption of AI.

3. Critical Analysis (1000-1200 words):

• Analyse how AI has impacted or is likely to impact each of the two chosen topics.
• Discuss both positive and negative aspects, using evidence from either academic research, case studies, or real-world examples.
• Compare and contrast the AI-driven changes with traditional approaches.

4. Conclusion (200-300 words):

• Summarise the main findings of your analysis.
• Reflect on the broader implications of AI on organisational behaviour and the future of work.
• Restate your thesis in light of the analysis provided.

5. References:
