In this assignment you will be assigned a statement that addresses a current issue in Business Information Systems (BIS). In your report you will state your position with regards to this statement and support your position using academic literature and material from other reputable sources. Inclusion of low-quality or dubious references will impact your grade.Your position may be to agree or disagree with the statement, or you may present an alternative perspective. However, your report must be specific and directly address the assigned statement. Make sure that you clearly state your position.

  • Students should be able to discuss their topic and position from multiple perspectives. This may include discussion of various stakeholders, alternative interpretations of the statement and arguments that challenge their own position.

Use of evidence and literature: 

  • Students should be able to clearly highlight strong evidence supporting their position and explain the underlying relevance to the topic.
  • Students should be familiar with the citations and references included in their report. They should be able to discuss the content of any of the citations/references and describe why it is relevant to the statement and their position.

Response to questions: 

  • Students are expected to be able to confidently and succinctly respond to questions by providing thoughtful, clear, and relevant answers. They should also demonstrate flexibility in addressing unexpected queries.
  • Responses should be clear, logical and demonstrate depth of understanding.

Focus on Value:

  • Students should be able to describe how a business or organisation can derive value by accepting their position, leveraging their analysis and using technology in an appropriate way.
  • Students should be able to identify any social, economic or ethical issues that are relevant to their assigned topic.
