You have been hired as a Management Consultant by Aldi, the UK discount store to help the company directors understand the financial performance of the business and plan for further investment in assets. The company finance director has provided you with the published annual report of the company containing the financial statements for 2022 and 2023 respectively.

The company wants to have a clear understanding of the performance of the business based on the information contained in the financial statements particularly from the income statement  (statement of comprehensive income), balance sheet, statement of changes in equity and statement of cashflows. You are also provided with the notes to the accounts (though not every information in the note may be relevant for your assignment)
