Assignment 1 Submission Format 

The submission is in the form of a report. This should be written in a concise, formal business style using single spacing and font size 12.

You are required to make use of headings, paragraphs and subsections as appropriate, and all work MUSTbe supported with research and referenced using the Harvard referencing system. The recommended word limit is 1500 to 2,000 words, although you will not be penalised for exceeding the total word limit. Please make sure that you address yourself in the third person i.e. the writer/author/researcher, and NOT in the first person (I).

1. Apply key supply chain concepts, principles, and processes in a hospitality context 
2. Evaluate the importance of effective supply chain management 
3. Examine the interrelationships between supply chain and other areas of a hospitality organisation

Assignment Brief and Guidance Scenario:

You have recently been hired as an assistant supply chain manager to manage the flow of goods and/or services through the supply chain in an organisation of your choice. You have been asked by your line manager to advise him/her on some supply chain management (SCM) issues.

You have also been asked to carry out detailed research in order to address the topics in a detailed way. The findings of your research should be presented in a business report. List of organizations: Ibis hotel, Pret A Manger, British Airways What you are required to do: Select a hospitality organisation from the list above (You MUST select an organisation from the list above. Anything otherwise will NOT be accepted for the purpose of this assignment).

The assignment requires you to work independently to produce a report.

The report should include the following: 

1.An introduction to the report. 
2.Demonstration of how key supply chain concepts, principles and processes are applied throughout the stages of resourcing, service or product design and development, logistics.
