Heat Sink Design Final Year Project Thesis

Project Background

My project is similar to my senior’s FYP, which is documented in FYP Thesis 200561. However, the difference is in the heat sink design, as my heat sink is intended for a different application. That’s why I asked you to refer to the senior’s PDF file as a guide.

Project Overview

My project focuses on improving the design of a heat sink used in the T/R Module of a Phased Array Antenna. The main goals of my project are to:

• Increase heat dissipation
• Reduce the temperature of the operating device
• Minimise the thermal boundary layer

Project Steps

I have provided a reference design based on a published article. You need to perform:

Mesh independence analysis
Other necessary analyses (same as what my senior did in their thesis)

Once that’s complete, repeat the same analysis on my three proposed designs:

• Design A
• Design B
• Design C

After analysing all three, compare the results and identify the best-performing design.

For the selected best design, perform a further study by changing several design parameters, such as:

• Fin length
• Fin diameter
• Number of perforations
• Materials used
• Number of fins

The rest of the process can be done by following the same structure and methodology as my senior’s project.
