Write a 700-800 laboratory report based on a classroom experiment investigating the effect of hand dominance on reaction time.
The report should be divided into the following sections:

• Introduction in which any sources/information used must be paraphrased
• Method
• Results
• Discussion
• References 

Think About It – answer these questions with a partner

• What is the difference between a voluntary reaction and a reflex?
• What is reaction time?
• When does reaction time matter?
• How can you investigate somebody’s visual reaction time?
• What factors might slow an individual’s reaction time (or make it faster)?
• Does everybody have the same reaction time? Why (not)?

What is the difference between a reflex and a voluntary reaction?

Unlike reactions, reflexes are: 

• involuntary
• usually simple
• Much faster than reactions
• the same in all healthy people
• not capable of improvement with practice
